Deck Design 101

When it comes to the deck building process, the first and most important step is to determine what kind of design to go with. With decks, the design possibilities are virtually endless. Whether you want a simple, one-level deck or one that’s a little more extravagant, we can provide you tips for picking the perfect design for you.

The first step for a do-it-yourself deck design is to take a picture of the back of your house and break out the tracing paper. Spend some time tracing out various deck layouts that come to mind to get a good idea of what you want. If you’re not an artist, there’s no need to worry. This step is just to help you visualize how you want the space to look and quickly sketch up an ideal deck layout.

Once you have a vision of where you want your deck to be, start thinking about what type of colors and finishes you’d like to go with. Be sure to jot these down! For example, would you like your deck to match the architectural style of your house by using light or dark wood? Or perhaps you want a deck with a pergola that has multiple levels. Whatever your design ideas are, write them down. The goal here is to personalize your deck and truly make it your own.

Once the design is complete and materials are decided, there’s really only one thing left to do… let 405 Decks build you the deck of your dreams!

Handicap Accessible Decks

Safety is the most important thing when it comes to building wheelchair ramps. Wheelchair ramps must meet or exceed the American Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. More specifically that these ramps include  minimum of 5' x 5' turn platform, handrails between 34" and 38" in height, along with many other safety features.

405 Decks knows how to build a multitude of amazing decks, but we also know how to build one that is also wheelchair accessible. Our number one priority is making sure our clients are satisfied with their decks. We don't want you to be limited due to wheelchair use. We plan it out, building you a deck to your specifications then tailoring it to all wheelchair needs and ADA requirements.

We want you to have an amazing deck, but safety comes first. If you or a loved one is in a wheelchair, there is no reason why your deck shouldn't be wheelchair accessible.

We're ready to start building when you are.
